چکیده

Introduction Labor induction rates are increasing and, in Finland today, one of three labors is induced. Group B streptococcus (GBS) a bacterium found 10%–30% pregnant women and it can be transmitted to the neonate during vaginal delivery. Although GBS rarely harmful general population, leading cause severe neonatal infections such as sepsis, pneumonia, meningitis. In addition, maternal morbidity. GBS-positive has not yet been investigated but concerns infectious morbidity associated with balloon catheters have raised. Material methods A historical cohort study 1959 undergoing labor by catheter Helsinki University Hospital, Finland, between January 1, 2014 December 31, 2017. Women viable singleton term pregnancy cephalic presentation, unfavorable cervix (Bishop score <6), intact amniotic membranes were included. was screened rapid qualitative vitro test (XPert® GBS) from perineal culture upon admission for induction. All testing positive received prophylactic antibiotics. Results Of women, 469 (23.9%) GBS-positive. The rate intrapartum infection 7.4%, being lower group compared GBS-negative (4.7% vs 8.3%; p = 0.01). postpartum 3.9%, 3.3%, both similar groups. Also, no difference other adverse outcomes seen. No sepses occurred study. multivariable logistic regression, rupture delivery interval ≥12 hours infection, well infection. Other risk factors GBS-negativity, nulliparity, prolonged (≥41 weeks), Bishop <3 at start Cesarean section endometritis, while gestational diabetes, Conclusions Regarding morbidity, appears safe colonized when antibiotics administered onset or membrane rupture.

Comparative Molecular and Microbiologic Diagnosis of Vaginal Colonization by Group B Streptococcus in Pregnant Women during Labor

Objective(s) Rapid tests for detection of Streptococcus agalactiae or Group B Streptococci (GBS) at the onset of labor are needed to permit early intrapartum antibiotic prophylaxis. This study aimed to evaluate the PCR assays targeting the 16S ribosomal RNA gene (16S rDNA) for detection of the GBS in comparison with a specific culture method. Materials and Methods Two swabs were used to obta...

Rare Absence of CD79alpha in B-ALLs is not Associated with Altered Prognosis

Background: The diagnosis of B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (B-ALL) on the basis of the World Health Organization (WHO) recommendations in 2016 requires the expression of CD19 with CD79a (CD79a), cCD22 and CD10. CD79a is an integral B cell antigen expressed at all stages. Its absence in B-ALL has only been rarely reported. In this study, we described three cases of B-ALL showing complete l...

Is Induction of Anomalies in Lymphocytes of the Residents of High Background Radiation Areas Associated with Increased Cancer Risk?

Man has been exposed to different levels of natural background radiation since the creation of human life. There are inhabited areas around the world with extraordinary levels of natural background radiation. The level of natural radiation in these areas is up to two orders of magnitude higher than other places. Areas such as Yangjiang, China; Guarapari, Brazil; and Kerala, India are among the ...
